TYT MD-9600

Part of DMR go kit.

This radio is primarily used for RAYNET events.

Box/mounting

I had fun trying to figure out how to run it as a "remote head" radio to mount into the box because they don't technically support that. The only thing connecting the head/screen to the main body is a short piece of ribbon cable but trying various other lengths of the same spec cable always allowed me to turn the radio on, but the screen would never display anything. I ended up simply mounting the display rotated 90 degrees which sufficed. See more detail on the go-kit page.

Programming

I have been playing with dmrconfig to program this radio after previously using the standard Windows application. All my computers run Linux by default so this works well to not have to switch OSes to tweak settings. Also means I can do it in the field on a Pi if necessary.

I've been working on a webapp to more kindly edit the config file. Link will be here when I have something useful.
